President Rodrigo Duterte -- to fire a whole commission over corruption

Duterte also told his audience about an official who traveled out of the country six times since September.

"Corruption is really pulling us down," President Duterte said.
"On Monday, I will fire about one commission mismo. Lahat sila," Duterte said in at the 84th anniversary celebration of the Department of Labor and Employment in Malolos, Bulacan. Duterte has repeatedly said that "a whiff of corruption" would be enough for him to fire an official. 

Both Sueno and Lavina were prime movers in Duterte's presidential campaign in 2016.

Also in April, Duterte fired Undersecretary Maia Chiara Halmen Reina Valdez for trying to reverse National Food Authority Jason Aquino's denial of a rice importation permit.

Other officials dismissed by Duterte are former Dangerous Drugs Board chairman Dionisio Santiago and Sugar Regulatory Administration chief Anna Rosario Paner.

He reminded government workers that he didn't allow extravagance funded by taxpayers' money.

The highest ranking official Duterte fired over allegations of corruption was then Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno in April.

Then National Irrigation Administration chief Peter Lavina was fired in March also for alleged corruption.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday vowed to fire an entire government commission over allegations of corruption. He gave this hint as the government heightened its war against corruption and corrupt officials in public office.
